C. Rice.

I went to see Condoleezza Rice last week at BYU's Mariott Center. As a person, she (or her speechwriter) seems wise and witty, but I will never agree with her ideologically.

“The only legitimate government, the only form of government that is true to the non-negotiable demands of human dignity is democracy. So the United States has to advocate for it.”

While we all love democracy, is it our place to spread it around the world by force? And even if it were, we aren't doing a very good job of it. Taking out authoritarian leaders and replacing them with our own cronies while leaving the country in complete shambles isn't a better situation than leaving them as they were. Besides, no country, especially not the United States, is as disinterested and altruistic as vouched to be. We have our reasons and they aren't to make the world a better place. Miss Rice knows this and is either cruel or ignorant. You decide.

scholar.

I got went to SLC today to take some pictures of my lil' bro, Louis. He has the Sterling Scholar award in math at his high school and is trying to get the award for the state. Good luck, Louis! (He doesn't need it--he's such a math whiz!)

{We went to the library at the University of Utah}

{He's such a good sport, trying my silly ideas}

{Louis says these are called the "womb chairs," because they are so easy to fall asleep in}

{In the math building}

{Definitely my favorites; I love that the math rooms have glass walls you can write on}
