hare krishna

Stephanie and I went to the Festival of Colors today with a guy in our ward and some of her law school friends. Being down in Spanish Fork brings back so many memories, good and bad. It made me miss my sister a lot, too. We used to go to the Lotus Temple all the time to do yoga.

not everything, but a lot

I periodically go through old emails to sort of clear out my inbox. Today, I came across some emails from five years ago. I've always been ambivalent about those years. There are so many stupid mistakes and awkward times. I had a huge crush on a boy in my neighborhood. Here is an email I sent to him called "not everything, but a lot":

"i don't like to read newspapers, because the ink always gets all over your hands. I still have that shells taped to cardboard thing you gave me because I think it's really cool. I'm not very patient, but i am very trusting. I love poetry and i love to write. I have a collection of Jones Soda bottles on my windowsill, because the pictures are really cool. I like incense. i like to read. i like the show "the office" because it reminds me of my brothers. my keyboard in my room is broken and i use it to put laundry on along with my closet floor, bed, drawers and shelf. i have a book called animals and their legal rights. and one i stole from my teacher called human conduct which i will never actually read, but i did start it. quite intriguing. i have about a thousand bruises on my legs from being hyper and rowdy and attacking people and falling all over the place."

It's crazy that so much can change and yet, not much is different at all. I'm coming to terms with this past self I've tried to forget for so long. I think she and I could be friends.

Easy Lomography

Lately, I've been really interested in photo editing and, with access to Photoshop on campus, I've been experimenting. Here are the preliminary results.

If you are interested in trying this technique, here is a good site to help you out.

Rex Lee, Photodate

This morning, my old roommate, Jacqueline, ran the Rex Lee for her grandma who had cancer. Go Jacqueline!

Then, Autumn, Lizzy and I went out on a photo date! So much fun! First in the canyon and then to downtown. I've never been a big fan of nature photos before, but today, I converted.

engaged! and then there's me

My sister recently got engaged and asked me to take her engagement photos. Unfortunately, she postponed the pictures from 1:30 to 4:30 and then took two and a half hours to get ready. When we finally got outside, there was hardly any light left, so we had to reschedule.
My roommate and I also went out to get some shots. She's been anxious for a while to go out and get some shots since she had some fun ideas. Looking at the 500something pictures, I realized why I'm the one behind the camera. My roommate drives me absolutely nuts. She is mean to me all the time and I take it because I don't want to cause problems, but I seriously wish I could just stand up to her. She thinks she is the best at everything and doesn't hesitate to tell everyone, including snide comments about why you'll never be as good as she is. She is so critical, so judgmental. I don't know if she is insanely jealous or just mean. She likes to tell me why she is better at photography, cooking, makeup, floral design, has more boys who like her, how her missionary never missed a week... Unfortunately, I don't think telling her will help. She will deny it, why can I just take a joke? and in the end the problem will probably get worse.
